Our program

The program’s goals include the protection of our environment, water safety, boating safety, and fishing conservation. TTT and its partner agencies and affiliates intend to instill the importance of how integral our environment is to our livelihoods. We guide our youth to be mindful of our resources as the generation responsible for the future maintenance of our oceans and coastlines. We provide a platform to be proud of as they participate in bonding activities and group exercises building confidence and social ties with their peers.

 More about our program

  • The program’s overall subjects include: protection of our environment, water safety, boating safety and fishing conservation. Students organize a fishing derby called “Wahoo in the Marianas.” Students are completely in charge of planning and organizing the event. Students are responsible for applying for the numerous permits and licenses, getting solicitations from the community for prizes, drafting tournament rules, registering boats, bookkeeping, promoting the event in the community and on social media, renting equipment (tents, tables, chairs, porta potties, etc.). Students learn about fishing while gaining life skills such as those involved in organizing an event and working with community members. These are valuable skills that can help with entry to college, work experience, and networking. Not all students in TTT are on a path to a 4-year college, but being a member of TTT can also open them up to other opportunities such as fishing (whether commercially or for subsistence), captaining a boat, marketing, and journalism.

  • Currently, the program is offered to CNMI-PSS high school students.

  • If you are a CNMI-PSS high school student, sign up at your school’s club fair at the start of the school year.

  • There are various ways to support our cause! Visit our “support” page for more information.
